Frequently Asked Questions
- Deciding on the right colours for your space can be overwhelming. We have multiple booklets of paint swatches including the trending colours for the year and will drop them off to you. We will listen to your vision and budget before offering our experience and knowledge to arrive at the best colour choice for your home.
- Something to consider is the number of coats it will take to arrive at your desired colour change. Each coat of paint can increase both the cost and timeline of the project.
- Not for exterior or interior painting projects. You can continue your regular lifestyle activities while we are painting your home. We do request keys (if working inside) and communication if you are planning to be away.
- Yes for cabinet refinishing projects. The VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are higher in cabinet refinishing products and it isn’t safe to be home while the paint is being applied. Once the paint drys the VOCs drop dramatically and off-gas and dissipate over the next week. Learn more about our process in keeping your indoor air quality safe here.
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are a large group of chemicals that are found in many products used to build and maintainin homes. They are released or “off-gas” into the indoor air we breathe and can pose a number of health risks.
- Point West Painting chooses eco-friendly, and low or zero VOC coatings as often as possible.
- We have a minimum charge of $2000 + GST for any project. Often clients will want to extend their project with us to include additional spaces. We are happy to discuss each project with you on a case-by-case scenario.
- We take the health and safety of our team and our clients seriously. Prior to project start date, we ask you to disclose if you have any symptoms of sickness in general, have tested positive for COVID-19, been exposed to someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, or travelled out of the country in the past two weeks.

- We are happy to wear a mask during our time in your home (upon request)

- Yes, your home and safety are covered with 5 million liability and WCB.
- We only schedule exterior painting projects during a time of year with consistently reliable weather conditions to avoid delays in your project timeline. However, each year the seasons and weather are becoming more unpredictable.
- Our #1 priority is proper paint adhesion, and a high-quality finish and certain weather conditions will prevent that.
- Rain – paint will not adhere to a wet surface, causing it to fail long-term. If it has been raining or is forecasted to rain the same day we will wait. Any delays will be communicated to you in detail throughout the project.
- Extreme heat – paint cannot properly adhere to a surface during a heatwave, generally temperatures above 30C. Additionally, the health and safety of our team are important. If there is any risk of heat stress or heat exhaustion we will call in our team. If it is possible to work earlier to avoid the heat and complete the job on time that is our preferred option.
- We ensure our work and paint products for 3 years. After your project is complete we will walk through the space with you and fix any deficiencies (if applicable).
- Preparing the surface is an essential component to guaranteeing proper paint adhesion. Sometimes we cannot guarantee our warranty on specific areas of the house if it is very damaged or rotting. This scenario would be communicated to you at the point of discovery so there would never be any surprises at the end of the project.
- We choose high-quality paint and the best painting method based on your unique project. Our warranty is our commitment to beautiful workmanship and premium products that will stand the test of time.
- Warranty excludes: walked-on surfaces, exposed metal, customer-supplied paint and wallpaper products, cracks in drywall, rotten surfaces, fences and railings. Any work where other contractors were involved, unpaid invoices, and any unforeseeable problems resulting from previous paint failures, factory finishes, wooden gutters and roofs. A detailed copy of our warranty will be provided when we sign our first contract together.
- We work hard to provide you with an estimate that will be true to your end cost of the project. Any add-ons will be approved by you during the timeline of the project, we value communication and trust above all at Point West Painting.
- We can do estimates virtually with video calls and detailed photographs. However, meeting in person to look over the surfaces and ask questions in the moment is the best way to achieve a true estimate for the cost of the project ahead.
